Fit Pregnancy

Fitness is one of my favorite ways to implement self care into my life especially during pregnancy.  I also have a little obsession with workout clothes.  When I saw this tank from Fit & Flirty I knew I needed it in my life. Thanks to Fit & Flirty for gifting me such a fun product!

I really love this shirt because while I know I can’t enjoy rosé right now but yoga and wine on Sundays are some of my favorite way to unwind and get ready for the week.  Also, check out this awesome article of 8 reasons to include champagne into your life because it explains how a little bit of bubbles can benefit your health! I really am looking forward to being able to enjoy a glass of wine and some yoga… I know it is still a bit a way but it is something that I really do enjoy and can’t wait to start getting back into getting my body into shape and enjoying a little treat every once in awhile!

For those of you who have been following my pregnancy I wanted to let you know some of my favorite you tubers for at home pregnancy workouts! Perfect for some namaste on your Sunday or any day of the week! Seriously, these workouts are perfect for busy moms because they are short and sweet but keep you moving!

Fantastic Philanthropy: It’s all about the YMCA

I think it is about time to outline another Fantastic Philanthropy! The YMCA has grown close to my heart over the last year.  My husband sits on the local board for one of the branches and I started working out there about a year ago.  We are involved specifically with the Westside and Benbrook YMCA’s.

The YMCA gives scholarships and youth program opportunities. Persons who wish to utilize the services of the Y, but cannot afford them, are given assistance based on their needs. This allows the YMCA to say “Yes!” to those who otherwise would not be able to participate. The YMCA offers a complete continuum of services for all ages.

Beyond the great things they do for the community the staff is great! I am greeted by my name everyday and asked how I am.  The group fitness instructors recognize you and also are very friendly and knowledgeable sources.

I think that goes to show how great the YMCA is not only for individuals but for the community.  Whether you are there to get fit, have children that play sports or are looking for a great philanthropy the YMCA serves all of those and much, much more!

Just Keep Swimming

I am back in action with a work out/ eating better routine.  I posted about trying Barre Class a while back and really loved that workout.  However, I wanted to be able to try more classes with more schedule options so I decided to join my local YMCA.

I tried Yoga Fusion the other day and loved it! Today I wanted to explore the pool.  So I ran a few miles on the treadmill and headed to the pool.

I have always been a water lover; I was on swim team and a lifeguard [Shout out to my Trails Pool Sharks].  However, I haven’t swam laps in probably close to 8 or 9 years.  It was back in college and I definitely didn’t do it on a regular basis.  So I busted out the speedo I wore on swim team [AKA vintage speedo because it is 15+ years old] and my goggles and I was ready to go.

Side note: why are speedo’s so funny looking on my body.

In my head I was going to swim a mile [32 laps at the YMCA]. And then I jump in and swam ONE lap and thought HOLY &%$@ this is WAY harder then I remember! Where are some floaties when I need them??!?!!

However, I took my time and did 16 laps and felt good about myself.  This has definitely shown me how I need to adjust expectations but also push myself. I am enjoying trying new classes and getting back into old fitness habits!

30 Thoughts During Barre Class

For those of you who know me know I LOVE barre… I am a “Barre Junkie”.  However, the internal thought process that happens before and during class is quite entertaining (IMO).  Some people are so confident in working out, me not so much. The first time I ever went to class felt like the first day of cheerleading practice.  I was super nervous.

This post is meant to encourage people to try new things and realize even the most expierneced ones are attending the class to challenge themselves too! Who knows in a few months the “newbies” may be looking at you thinking WOW they are good! Hope these thoughts give you a few chuckles!

  1. I wore my cutest workout outfit today…. It will help my talent shine through. [More on Barre Fashion next week ;)]
  2. Gotta be early so I can get MY mat.
  3. OK. Got MY mat. Start stretching so you don’t feel awkward.
  4. I really hope I’m not the only non-ballerina looking, uncoordinated one in the class.
  5. There’s the instructor. Time to start. Man I wish I could have that body. Maybe if I do barre twice a day for like forever I could…. She probably doesn’t even eat pizza….
  6. Warm up time. AND march, march, march… Don’t fall over onto the person next to you.
  7. Ugh already time to plank…. Geeze.
  8. Thank goodness that’s over…. Arm workout engage.
  9. My shoulders are going to fall off… these 3 lb weights feel like 25lbs…. I definitely could never do crossfit.

#100daysofhappiness: Day 9

Today was a day to try new things! I have been loving free online Barre workouts so I decided to go to a real class! I had some moral support with another friend who had also wanted to try it! So off we went to Smart Barre.  And guess what?! We loved it!  We signed up for a month of unlimited.  I am really hoping to see some improvement in my tone!  I will keep ya’ll updated!
