Tripp visits Disneyworld

Thanks to Disney World for gifting me a day of tickets to venture around the park.

If you would have asked me about taking a two year old to Disney a year ago I wold have laughed at you.  But I can tell you Tripp (and all of us) had a blast.  In an upcoming post(s) I will talk about traveling with a toddler tips and what its like to travel while pregnant!

We stayed at The Grand Floridian and it was AMAZING.  Their property is top notch with lots of activities for kids and good choices of places to eat.

Tripp loved the “beach” area they had! It was near a pool and a splash area too which he LOVED.  This was such a fun little perk of staying at this park. We also had awesome views of the fireworks from Disney!

Tripp absolutely loved riding the rides and see all the sites. I was worried he wouldn’t be super into the rides but he laughed looked around and never cried! The only time we had to really work with him was if we had wait times in line… which wasn’t ever a long period because we used fast passes and timed when to go to other rides based on what the Disney App told us… SO HELPFUL!

**Please ignore my cheesy mom voice.

Of course this pregnancy lady NEEDED a dole whip.  It was AMAZING and you can actually order ahead through the app and miss the line.  This is SO helpful during “heavy” food traffic time.

Disney makes everything so easy with their app.  We signed up for fast passes (which by the way made meeting characters SO much easier) and all the ride photos/attraction photos go right there in your app! I also loved the map and locator feature so we could see how to get places the fastest and where we were.

Thanks again to Disney for an amazing time! We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Whats your favorite thing to do at Disney?

Check-in on New Years Goals

With the half way point of the year upon us, I wanted to revisit the goals I set for myself. I have really tried to hold myself accountable to these.  Smalls steps to big goals is what I have in the back of my mind!

goals

So where do a stand?

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. This is a constant reminder.  I still am very hot headed and get worked up easily but I am working on giving myself a few seconds to breath before reacting so brashly.

2. Be a better listener. Another thing I CONSTANTLY have to remind myself.  But I am proud to say I have really noticed it becoming more of a habit.

3. Blog once a week. I am so proud to say I have kept up with this so far! I am really working hard on outlining my blog/social media calendar so I am more organized!

4. Practice yoga once a week. I have really struggled with this one.  I am working out more consistently but yoga has only been happening every other week.  I definitely am going to start doing it more.  I found some really great Tone it up online yoga videos the other day actually!

5. Travel to a new place. I am headed to Nashville, TN for a bachelorette party in July! Any recommendations of what we should see/do?!

6. Learn a new skill. I don’t know if it is a *new* skill but for the first time I am actually actively running and cutting my pace.  I can run on the treadmill at a 7 which I have NEVER been able to do before!

7. Volunteer more. I have stepped up to be event chair for the Jingle Bell Run 2017! Contact me if you want to make your own team, or join mine here! Even if you can’t be there in person you can “Jingle in your Jammies” from home AND you get the awesome event t-shirt or make a donation!

Overall, I am proud of myself for working to reach my goals! Just have a few areas to work on but like the quote above sometimes it isn’t about the final goal it is about the journey to get there!

What are were your 2017 Resolutions/Goals? How are you accomplishing them?

Traveling with a baby tips & tricks

We are about to head off to Florida for my Grandfather’s 90th birthday! What a blessing to have this man in my life and Tripp’s life. That brings up a topic that I remember as a new mom being so worried about.  Traveling with a baby. Well eight flights later, and I feel like so far, so good!

Honestly, even as a high needs/fussy baby he did AMAZING!!! People were SO great and helpful. I have only had one flight where I heard someone say something under their breath about being near a baby (and Tripp then showed off by sleeping the whole flight).

Tip #1: Check out my GabbingGingerBabyPackingList! Also, check out this packing list for mom/dad here.

Tip #2: Schedule flights during nap time

Tip #3: Feed baby during take off and landing to help their ears.

Tip #4: Babywear (but bring a stroller for back up, you just check it at the gate)

Tip #5: All of the new surroundings will provide good entertainment but bring a few toys and their paci if you are lucky enough to have a kid that will use one (Tripp was NOT about them).

Tip #6: Try to relax (remember EVERYONE was a baby at some point in their life)

Tip #7- Keep breast milk/formula in containers and bags unless it is being drank by the baby (so just fill a small amount for take off/landing).  I found the Doctor Brown Bottles that we LOVE pressurize and will leak EVERYWHERE when you have liquid in them. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I am a little nervous again to fly with a  bigger baby but I have some tricks up my sleeve!

IMG_8469

Trick #1: I am bringing some new dollar bin toys for him to explore [YES I know some of these have 3+ on the age but since I will be sitting with him the whole time I am not concerned]

Trick #2: Fun fun new snacks to munch on.

Trick #3: I also plan to walk to aisle when we can just to give us a break.

Trick #4: I am going to try downloading some cartoons from Amazon and netflix.  I have heard through the mom crowd that this can happen! This will give me another distraction even though he usually doesn’t get much screen time, travel doesn’t count lol!

What are your go to tips and tricks when traveling with kiddos?

Wish us luck!

Catching Up

Where has this summer gone?! I have been traveling the last 3 weeks so keeping up the blog has been a challenge!

I have an OOTD post coming soon, a fun recipe post and maybe a little something special!

I went to Indiana and Pennsylvania for work! Ate a HUGE Chicken Fried Steak… Not really my thing but when in Rome (or some hole in the wall bar in Indiana)! IMG_2478IMG_2483

Mark and I ventured to a craft brewer in Fort Worth called Martin House! We had SO much fun.  Loved the souviner glass and over favorite brew was the Imperial Texan!IMG_2488

I also ventured to Florida and successfully surprised my brother, aunt, uncle and grandparents! We had a great time enjoying family!

IMG_2492

I ventured back to Fort Worth to celebrate my birthday! Mark and his parents took me to my favorite Capital Grill!e! It was YUMMY!

Then it was back to Indiana for Marks family reunion this weekend.  Let’s just say 17 hour road trips are not my thing.  I did get some awesome pictures! It was great to meet and see Mark’s family and just have a good ol’ time! Seriously cornfields in the summer are a sight to see! This place looked like a movie set!

One HILL of a time

What a whirlwind of a weekend! Bachlorette weekend has come and gone and it was a blast! Fredericksburg, Texas is a fun, and friendly little town! It was so PERFECT for a girls weekend and we had one HILL of a time! Loved the weekend saying…. Brides new last name is going to be Hill AND we were in HILL country… HOW GREAT!

We rented a house right off main called Abendlied! It was so great because when we got in Friday we all enjoyed drinks, dinner and girl time on the porch!

On Saturday we had a home cooked breakfast and then got ready for a day of wine tours!

Texas Wine Tours was who we went through and it was great! They pick you up [and you can drink on the bus]! We had three wineries to go to:

Tourre Di Pietra– First stop and didn’t know what to expect! It was very “Tuscany”.  Bonus for cat lovers is that they had cats there.  Downfall, I am allergic!  But we enjoyed sitting outside here and the cats didn’t come near me so I was good to go!

Beck Vineyards– This was such an amazing winery! Great outdoor space and VERY yummy wine! We enjoyed lunch on their GIGANTIC patio!

William and Chris– This was such a cute winery.  They had great history and stories on their wine [and wine labels].  They were very knowledgeable and fun!

After the wine tours we headed back to change for dinner!

We went to Hondo’s. It had the best atmosphere and the food and drinks were great! They had a band playing called, “Almost Patsy Cline Band“.  LOVED them!

It was such a great weekend and we had some fun and interesting stops along out drive there and back… heck we even saw the Wolds Biggest Cedar Rocking Chair!

Wine Weekend

wine This weekend I am venturing to Fredericksburg, TX for a wine weekend Bachlorette party! I am SO excited for a little getaway!  However, packing is a fun challenge to take on [not].  Here are some of my tips and tricks and my fun picks for this weekend! The key is to have items that can be used multiple ways.  This gives you more options but with less bulk in your duffel!  Also, choose items that can mix easily (basic colors). First off the perfect bag: vb

Vera Bradley [Grand Travler]

Here are some of my ideal outfit combos!

outfit 1

I love Chambray tops because they can be used in so many ways! This is a comfy cool look for the car ride to over and will be perfect to wear to the casual dinner we are going to that evening!

Old Navy [Convertible Maxi Dress/Skirt]//Old Navy [Chambray Top]//Target [Cami Top]//Target [Sandal]

outfit3

I wanted an outfit that could go from day to night.  This is the day for wine tours so I figured I can throw my sandals in my bag and either dress it up or dress it down! I also get cold easily so throw in the chambray shirt for a bit of warmth but not adding bulk to the bag I carry!  You might notice the repeat of the maxi skirt from above.  Thats because it is a convertible dress/skirt… BRILLIANT!

Old Navy [Convertible Maxi Dress/Skirt]//Old Navy [Chambray Top]//Michael Kors [Wedge]

outfit2

Outfit 3 is for a little fancier dinner out.  I am OBSESSED with this look! Such fun summer colors!

Neiman Marcus [Flare Dress] //Michael Kors [Wedge]

   Bonus find:

Target PJ

What better excuse to buy a cute PJ set! Late night chats will happen and you need to be comfy!

Target [PJ Set]

Kendra Scott [Earrings]

New York, New York

AWWWW NEW YORK.  Such a wonderful place!  So much culture and SO MANY people. I love going but I also getting to come home!

My husband had never been so we were the “typical” tourist over the long weekend!

We stayed at the Double Tree In Times square and here is a summary of everything we did!

Thursday- Walked around times square… Ate lunch at Carnagie Deli [HUGE sandwiches] and tried out a pub and went to the mets game!

Friday- The weather was all over the place but we headed for Wall Street and to the Pier area.  Got to the One world Trade Center, so amazing but so sad reflecting on how that day changed our lives forever. Then we went to the Pier area! Sat and had a drink with a wonderful view and then ate lunch at a food truck park! We tried  and it was AMAZING! Then we headed back to change for dinner and a broadway show!  We ate at Carmines and saw Of Mice and Men with James Franco, Chris O’Dowd and Leighton Meester.  SO MUCH FUN!

Saturday- We got up and went to see Barndard College at Columbia Univeristy where AOII was founded! Then walked to see Central Park! We went to meet my cousin and stopped by Radio City Music Hall and 30 Rock. We met up with my cousin and ate lunch in her neck of the woods then ventured to see the Empire State Building.  Then ventured for some Juniors Cheesecake!  After that she left and we decided to see an off Broadway show called Avenue Q…. HILARIOUS!  Of course we were starving afterwords so we went to a hole in the wall to get some true NY Pizza…. MY FAV!

I wore my Fitbit on the last day and we walked of 25,000 steps and 10+ miles! SO CRAZY.  We loved it and hope to visit again soon!  Below are a few fun pictures!

We went to a housewarming party and acted like we were in college again playing games and enjoy everyones company! We even busted out some Mexican Train (domino’s game)… SO FUN!

Another fun thing that got planned this week is Mark and my trip to NYC! Mark has never been so I am excited to get to go on this adventure with him!

FINAL thing… Tory Burch had a sale a bit ago that I talked about and I am OBSESSED with these leopard flips!
