Tripp- 9 month update

I am not sure where time has gone but here we are and Tripp is 9 months old!

He is crawling like a champ, pulling up and walking along furniture.  He will even take his hands off and stand solo for a few seconds.

He babbles like crazy and is quite the ham.  He LOVES food and we are still breastfeeding. I am so proud to say we have made it to 9 months! It hasn’t been the easiest journey but we have hit our stride (knock on wood).

We finally sleep trained and he is sleeping SO much better.  So this is one HAPPY mama.  Thanks to preciouslittlesleep, where I got my tips and tricks to take the plunge! And the training was so simple and went very smoothly.  He loves his straw cups now so the Doctor gave us the go ahead to say bye bye to bottles when we do feed him frozen milk.   You would think he would be a chunk with how much he loves food and milk but he is still just 18.5 lbs.  He is 28inches long and his head is in the 99th percentile (for all the brains!!!).

Tripp’s favorite toys are cars and he loves to tear up magazines. He loves bath time and anything that involves him getting to play outside.  Thank goodness we have had awesome winter weather here in Texas.

I cannot believe the next update will be at a year old.  Time flies but I love getting to see him learn and grow!

The photo below is from a fun little Valentine’s Day shoot we did. It took several goldfish and yogurt puffs to get this kid to sit still and cooperate for a few good shots. Love him so much!

Baby Tripp’s Birth Story

Well goodness gracious it has been awhile!  Time sure does fly once you have a baby! I thought I would give you all a baby Tripp update! Hopefully, now that things are a *little* more settled I can have posts up 1-2 per week!

Blog world meet Tripp!

Isn’t he the sweetest! This little nugget was comfy in my belly.  Of course my Doctor was going out of town the week after I was due… so I knew that I would transfer to another in the practice when she left.  I went in Friday at [40 weeks 2 days] for my general follow up.  We did not want to induce until at least 41 weeks. My blood pressure was slightly higher than normal so she ordered a 24hr test that I would need to turn into the hospital on Monday. Went the whole weekend with no major issues [and no baby] so I went to the hospital on Monday [40 weeks and 4 days] and didn’t realize that they would also hook me up in triage while they ran blood work. I was in the clear with my test results and wasn’t having any major contractions so I then went to my Doctor for a follow up because it was her last day in the office before vacation.  We talked about the change of care plans and  I went home to wait out a baby until my next appointment [which was scheduled for Thursday].

I was feeling crampy that afternoon, but as many pregnant women know that is totally a normal feeling. Mark came home and made dinner and I was feeling more cramps so I took a shower. When I started to blow dry my hair I became really uncomfortable [I was having to stop to *breath*] so we decided to go to the hospital. Checked into L & D triage at 9pm was checked and told I was maybe a 4. At this point I was pretty uncomfortable and was getting sick to my stomach.  I was praying they would admit me because of how uncomfortable I was feeling.  They nurse had me stay 30 mins to be monitored and then the doctor came in and said your a 5.5 time to head to L & D. It was BABY time!

As soon as we got to L & D my contractions were back to back with no break and I had back labor. An epidural was always in my plan so they did my blood work and sent for the epidural.  Ten minutes later anesthesiologist was there and the epidural was set. I felt GREAT other then I did get the shivers! The nurse came in about 30 minutes later and asked how I was feeling,  I told her I was having a weird leg pain so she decided to check me and low and behold I was complete! So she broke my water and got the room set up for delivery. We couldn’t believe how fast this was going!

The nurse had me do practice pushes [it is about 1 am] and after 3 pushes they saw the head so we needed to wait for the doctor [who was delivering next door]. Finally the doctor came in and 5 pushes later Tripp was born at 1:38am.

This was NOT what I expected! It was so fast for a “first timer”.  The nurses were AMAZING and they were so impressed at how “easy” I made it seem.  Also, thank you medical world for epidurals!

We are just so in love with our little guy! I will definitely be blogging about life with a baby so stay tuned!

YSL Touche Éclat Neutralizer Review

Hi loves!

I received the YSL Touche Éclat Neutralizer  in bisque to try [thanks Influenster)!

In recent months [thanks pregnancy] I have struggled to cover up the dark circles under my eyes.  This neutralizers goes on very smooth. Does not feel heavy and doesn’t cake on.

It works well with other makeup I already use and really does hide my dark circles.  I am really loving how lightweight the product feels and how easy it is to use! See below for a before [ekkkkk no makeup] and after.

Monogram is a must

Hi y’all! It has been a minute since I have posted.  I have been over on Instagram completing the #MarchStyleMadness style challenge!  It has been lots of fun and stay tuned for a recap post about that.

Anyhow back to the blog topic.  My best friend Paula, graduated from Nursing School a few weeks ago.  I had been wanting to get her a gift but wasn’t 100% sure what to do.  Then, one of my friends posted some pictures of monogrammed name badge buttons and I was sold.  She sells them on her Etsy site.  Right now the site is on hiatus because she is GETTING MARRIED!!  You can also check out her BRAND NEW home renovation blog Becoming the Beatys.

The name badges are so cute and add such personality especially for those who have to wear scrubs and can’t show their personally much through their clothing.  Here are the badges I had made:

From work to work out

Athliesure wear is a fun trend right now in fashion and I am ALL about it.  With how busy our lives are I love that there are options of fashion that can take you from the office to the gym and you look good at both places! Plus, it saves time and money having clothes that serve a dual role.

So I partnered up with one of my favorite boutiques again Tiger Lily to help showcase athliesure wear!

Blazer Series: Part 2

Since I started this series I decided I should publish a little “How to” for blazers.  They are so versatile but sometimes that can be really overwhelming when creating an outfit.  So here ya go!

picstitch

Step One: Blazing it up. Find a great structured blazer.  If you don’t have one already I would recommend black or navy as they are very neutral and can go with many blouse options.

Step Two: Top of your game. A soft blouse/ t-shirt or sleeveless shirt to go under the blazer. For a more casual occasion I go with a plain t-shirt and for a dressier occasion a blouse. Feel free to spice it up with a pattern or a bright color! Just remember your shoes and accessories will need to compliment one another.

Step Three: A mean jean. A well fitting pair of jeans.  Remember jeans can be colored or regular.  Whatever you feel most comfortable in or whatever color is suiting your mood! I prefer a dark wash denim with my black blazer. It gives it that dressed up crisp look. But when I am going more casual a light wash jean is my “go-to”.

Step Four: Pump it up.  A nice pump really helps balance the jean and blazer look.  Gives you classy and edgy look. Go for a fun color (magenta) or pattern (leopard)!

Step Five: Bling, Bling.  A statement necklace is the icing on this outfit.  If you haven’t gone bold with your shoes, or top here is where you can make your impact.

Step Six: Show em’ what you got.  Have fun in your new outfit!

Life Goals

You know some life goals are big and some life goals are small. Well my name is Lauren and I have a lip balm problem. My goal… completely finish one of my lip balms before buying a new one.

Here’s to hoping this holds me accountable.
