Vital Proteins Review

*Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

The new year is underway and I have really been trying to focus on my health.  With that being said as a busy mom I realized that my eating habits aren’t the greatest [hello leftover Mac & cheese or PB&J].  After taking a look at my diet I also realized I was lacking protein.

IMG_3830When Vital Proteins reached out to me I was really excited to try their Collagen Peptides. What is Collagen?!?! It is the most abundant protein in the body and is a key constituent of all connective tissues. These protiens/peptides help with hair, skin, nails and your whole body.  I have really seen an improvement over the past few weeks since I have amped up using Vital Proteins.

For me, I love adding it to my morning coffee.  This line dissolves quickly and has no taste.  But for those who love lighter coffee (I drink mine black) they have SUPER yummy creamers that I have tried and they taste amazing,

Want to try it yourself? HERE is the Collagen Peptides & HERE is the coffee creamer.  I am also excited to try some of the other products they have to offer soon!

What is your favorite way to add protein into your diet

PS Apparently I have a thing for Texas coffee mugs…

Father’s Day Favorites

Father’s day is a special day to recognize those father figures in our lives.  I feel like it is one of the special days that they accept the “showing” of praise and gifts. My husband is so humble and deserves nothing more than to be treated extra special on this day… I mean he puts up with one feisty red head every other day of the year! So this year I am really hoping to show him how much Tripp & I love and appreciate his hard working and loving self.  Here are some of my gift ideas for him…. what he will get is a surprise! We are also planning on a fun dinner and a trip to the Rangers game with both Grandpa’s and Uncle Sammy too!

This guy works so hard for our little family and I grow more and more proud of him [and fall more in love with him] everyday! He loves our little guy so fiercely and has been the best dad I could ever ask for.  I definitely thank God for bringing Mark into my life!

Enough of the gushing and on to the Father’s Day goodies!

Empties

Hey everyone! One thing I am trying to get better about is using up the products I have before buying new things.  So I thought I would start compiling my empty products and then give feedback on what I like and didn’t like!

Nothing is off limits so these posts will cover makeup, beauty, baby, food…. and so on! Let’s get started!

gg

Physicians formula powder:  Great product.  I still lean toward lose powder because I break my pressed powders EVERYTIME.  I would still recommend this product.  It has good coverage and is great on sensitive skin.

Elf Eyeliner: LOVE LOVE LOVE this product and the price point.  And even though the container is small it lasted quite awhile! Thumbs up!

Huggies wipes: I love these wipes.  Are good at getting everything clean (both baby wise and baby mess wise) and I like that they are a little thicker. Thumbs up!

Up & Up wipes: This wipes did the job but I HATED the scent.  I would recommend unscented.

Hand Creme: Love having this on the go in my diaper bag.  They don’t have this scent [I linked a similar one] but I love how this creme feels and it seems to keep my hands soft! Thumbs up!

Bath & Body Works Soap: I LOVE their soap and I love trying different scents.  The foaming soap is my favorite but not for any particular reason.  Both of the scents were great [I also LOVE the lemon scents for the kitchen]. These soaps were one of the reasons I decided I needed to start using up product. When we moved I found about 10 half used soaps under our sinks… what can I say I like to change them with the seasons.  Thumbs up on these!

Pantene: I LOVE this shampoo [& conditioner].  Everyone always compliments how shiny and pretty my hair is when I use this.  AND IT SMELLS SO GOOD.  Thumbs up!

Babyganics Bubble Bath: This stuff smells amazing and Tripp LOVES it! Bath time was major with sleep training and playing in the bubble bath is a favorite of Tripp’s.  I think the scent also helps him relax.  Thumbs up!

Vitafusion Prenatal: Since I am still breastfeeding I take prenatal.  I love the gummies but I have had a few brands and these aren’t my favorite in taste but they still taste good.  However, for someone else they may be their favorite flavor.   Would recommend.

What are you favorite products you consistently use up?

This serum has been amazing so far! It smells great and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily or sticky! It is great on my oily and dry skin and has really brightened it.  I am acne prone so it took a few days for my skin to adjust but it has and the serum has really improved the look of the scars on my face! So much so that sometimes I just touch up any trouble spots and go… no BB cream or foundation!

I put the serum on at night after my evening face wash routine.  I wake up in the morning to a glow on my face and it is hydrated and fresh.

I am still using this product and I plan to purchase it again once it runs out!

Just Keep Swimming

speedo

I am back in action with a work out/ eating better routine.  I posted about trying Barre Class a while back and really loved that workout.  However, I wanted to be able to try more classes with more schedule options so I decided to join my local YMCA.

I tried Yoga Fusion the other day and loved it! Today I wanted to explore the pool.  So I ran a few miles on the treadmill and headed to the pool.

I have always been a water lover; I was on swim team and a lifeguard [Shout out to my Trails Pool Sharks].  However, I haven’t swam laps in probably close to 8 or 9 years.  It was back in college and I definitely didn’t do it on a regular basis.  So I busted out the speedo I wore on swim team [AKA vintage speedo because it is 15+ years old] and my goggles and I was ready to go.

Side note: why are speedo’s so funny looking on my body.

In my head I was going to swim a mile [32 laps at the YMCA]. And then I jump in and swam ONE lap and thought HOLY &%$@ this is WAY harder then I remember! Where are some floaties when I need them??!?!!

However, I took my time and did 16 laps and felt good about myself.  This has definitely shown me how I need to adjust expectations but also push myself. I am enjoying trying new classes and getting back into old fitness habits!

What are your favorite classes and fitness routines?

#100daysofhappiness: Day 53

Volunteering is one of my passions.  I love getting to help at fundraising events and giving back to great causes.  Last night I was asked to join in helping Cuisine for Healing Survivor’s in Style. A little about this great organization:

When someone is fighting a life-threatening disease, their body needs additional nutrition. Yet, at a time when it’s more important than ever to eat healthy, many cancer patients (and others fighting for their lives), simply do not have access to the kind of food they need, let alone the energy or ability to shop for and prepare healthy meals.

Healthy, ready-made food needs to be available and easy to find. Cuisine for Healing was created out of this need and OUR MISSION is to make nutritious, delicious food readily available to people combating disease, while providing education about the power of healing food. Our driving VISION is a world where cancer and other related illnesses are prevented, treated and even eliminated through the power of healthy food!

This event was so fun and they have a fashion show featuring survivors! I love getting the opportunity to give back!  The awesome banner below was donated by D & M Custom Signs… How great is that!

#100daysofhappiness: Day 45

Here is a daily double for you!  I had some kale that I purchased to use in my smoothies.  It is hard to use it up quick enough before it goes bad.  Thus, in came Pinterest.  I LOVE salt and vinegar chips so I found a recipe on there but I didn’t have red wine vinegar (only had white.) So I made a few tweaks (story of my life when I cook/bake).  Here is the recipe below.

Several handfuls of Kale.

1 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 TBS White Wine Vinegar (Distilled)

1/2 TBS Balsamic Vinegar

Salt

Preheat over to 350 degrees.  Clean and dry Kale.  In a mixing bowl add oil and vinegars.  Mix in Kale thoroughly. Spread out on baking sheet.  Salt to taste… I LOVE sale but it does go a long way so be mindful of that!Cook for approximately 15mins (until it begins to brown).

Love how it tastes!  It will never replace my kettle chips but flavor is good.  I think Kale taste (and smells) and little like broccoli but with a different texture but it is certainly yummy and MUCH better for my body than the kettle chips.  What is your favorite Kale recipe?

#100daysofhappiness: Day 37

Sooooo I made my post from the other day into a community Buzzfeed article.  I don’t plan on doing that often but I was proud of my humor.  Below is a snapshot and here is the link.
