Fit Pregnancy

Fitness is one of my favorite ways to implement self care into my life especially during pregnancy.  I also have a little obsession with workout clothes.  When I saw this tank from Fit & Flirty I knew I needed it in my life. Thanks to Fit & Flirty for gifting me such a fun product!

Workout yoga fashion for fitness during pregnancy!

I really love this shirt because while I know I can’t enjoy rosé right now but yoga and wine on Sundays are some of my favorite way to unwind and get ready for the week.  Also, check out this awesome article of 8 reasons to include champagne into your life because it explains how a little bit of bubbles can benefit your health! I really am looking forward to being able to enjoy a glass of wine and some yoga… I know it is still a bit a way but it is something that I really do enjoy and can’t wait to start getting back into getting my body into shape and enjoying a little treat every once in awhile!

Fit&Flirty has so many great merchandise options! They were so kind to give me a code for 15% off it is SWEATPINK6. Seriously SO many cute tops with fun sayings!

Self Care

I am so excited to be collaborating with my friend Meg again for this post on self care! We have been instafriends and have collaborated on a “red head” post in the past.  This time we are both bringing you our take on self care. After you read below make sure to head over to her post and tell her I sent you!

Self Care.  You hear it talked about especially in the mom world. I think that is because self care techniques are constantly changing and evolving based on our life situations. You add a kid or two (or three or four), you move, you get a new job, or your schedule changes…. All of those things cause a seismic shift and you have to reevaluation how you execute your self care. A perfect balance is always the goal but I think a HAPPY balance is what is important.

Personally, lately I have had to scale down working out because of my pregnancy and so to replace it every few weeks I am heading in for a mani or a pedi.  It helps keep me relaxed and it is something that is a treat. I also have enjoyed some time reading and watching a few netflix shows. I am doing this all knowing that in a few short months a new baby will be here and my self care routine will have to change.  Taking a little extra self care time during these months is hopefully setting me up for a positive mental health level as we shift into a new normal.

There are so many different ways to fulfill your self care needs.  It can be hard to get the ball rolling [especially if you are a newer mom #momguilt].  But I promise it is so worth it not only for you but for your family. Self care can be done in as little as 10-15 minutes but that time can do so much for your mental and physical health.

I think the very first piece of self care advice I have is once your child is on a good schedule getting up before them is so imperative.  Even if it is to just lay in bed and check social media. It is so nice not to feel rushed into getting up and getting the ball rolling.  Some other Ideas on self care include:

Read a book

Workout (even small at home workouts get those good endorphins going)

Take a Bath

Pamper yourself… get a mani, your hair down, something that makes YOU feel beautiful

Have a glass of your favorite drink

Enjoy a cup of coffee HOT before the kiddos wake up

Enjoy time with friends WITHOUT the kid (s).

Taking care of yourself will help make sure you are functioning as your best self.  Whether you are a mom or not taking time for yourself in our “go, go, go” world is important for your mental and physical wellness. I love that people are finally talking about it because I know that I need to constant reminder to take care of myself and not just those around me!

What are you favorite strategies for self care?

Vital Proteins Review

*Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

The new year is underway and I have really been trying to focus on my health.  With that being said as a busy mom I realized that my eating habits aren’t the greatest [hello leftover Mac & cheese or PB&J].  After taking a look at my diet I also realized I was lacking protein.

IMG_3830When Vital Proteins reached out to me I was really excited to try their Collagen Peptides. What is Collagen?!?! It is the most abundant protein in the body and is a key constituent of all connective tissues. These protiens/peptides help with hair, skin, nails and your whole body.  I have really seen an improvement over the past few weeks since I have amped up using Vital Proteins.

For me, I love adding it to my morning coffee.  This line dissolves quickly and has no taste.  But for those who love lighter coffee (I drink mine black) they have SUPER yummy creamers that I have tried and they taste amazing,

Want to try it yourself? HERE is the Collagen Peptides & HERE is the coffee creamer.  I am also excited to try some of the other products they have to offer soon!

What is your favorite way to add protein into your diet

PS Apparently I have a thing for Texas coffee mugs…

Check-in on New Years Goals

With the half way point of the year upon us, I wanted to revisit the goals I set for myself. I have really tried to hold myself accountable to these.  Smalls steps to big goals is what I have in the back of my mind!

goals

So where do a stand?

1. Don’t sweat the small stuff. This is a constant reminder.  I still am very hot headed and get worked up easily but I am working on giving myself a few seconds to breath before reacting so brashly.

2. Be a better listener. Another thing I CONSTANTLY have to remind myself.  But I am proud to say I have really noticed it becoming more of a habit.

3. Blog once a week. I am so proud to say I have kept up with this so far! I am really working hard on outlining my blog/social media calendar so I am more organized!

4. Practice yoga once a week. I have really struggled with this one.  I am working out more consistently but yoga has only been happening every other week.  I definitely am going to start doing it more.  I found some really great Tone it up online yoga videos the other day actually!

5. Travel to a new place. I am headed to Nashville, TN for a bachelorette party in July! Any recommendations of what we should see/do?!

6. Learn a new skill. I don’t know if it is a *new* skill but for the first time I am actually actively running and cutting my pace.  I can run on the treadmill at a 7 which I have NEVER been able to do before!

7. Volunteer more. I have stepped up to be event chair for the Jingle Bell Run 2017! Contact me if you want to make your own team, or join mine here! Even if you can’t be there in person you can “Jingle in your Jammies” from home AND you get the awesome event t-shirt or make a donation!

Overall, I am proud of myself for working to reach my goals! Just have a few areas to work on but like the quote above sometimes it isn’t about the final goal it is about the journey to get there!

What are were your 2017 Resolutions/Goals? How are you accomplishing them?

Father’s Day Favorites

Father’s day is a special day to recognize those father figures in our lives.  I feel like it is one of the special days that they accept the “showing” of praise and gifts. My husband is so humble and deserves nothing more than to be treated extra special on this day… I mean he puts up with one feisty red head every other day of the year! So this year I am really hoping to show him how much Tripp & I love and appreciate his hard working and loving self.  Here are some of my gift ideas for him…. what he will get is a surprise! We are also planning on a fun dinner and a trip to the Rangers game with both Grandpa’s and Uncle Sammy too!

This guy works so hard for our little family and I grow more and more proud of him [and fall more in love with him] everyday! He loves our little guy so fiercely and has been the best dad I could ever ask for.  I definitely thank God for bringing Mark into my life!

Enough of the gushing and on to the Father’s Day goodies!

My First Mother’s Day + Gift Ideas

I know, I know. I was a mother when I was pregnant but this year is so special having Tripp in my arms to snuggle and hug(he was born TWO days after Mother’s Day last year). These last few years Mother’s Day has honestly been very sad. It is hard watching so many people celebrate with their mom and you don’t get to do that.

I love that this year has brought new meaning to this holiday. I am so thankful that God chose Tripp to be my little one. He has shown me unconditional love that I have never known. He has taught me to be more carefree and less uptight. He has taught me patience and understanding and that with one little grin that he can get out of a lot of trouble.

I can’t wait to spend this Mother’s Day with my little family. Really that is the best gift of all BUT if you were to ask me some fun gift ideas for moms here is what I would suggest!

Pampering is ALWAYS a good idea for mom so a massage or mani/pedi gift card are safe bets! Click to photos below for direct links!

From work to work out

Athliesure wear is a fun trend right now in fashion and I am ALL about it.  With how busy our lives are I love that there are options of fashion that can take you from the office to the gym and you look good at both places! Plus, it saves time and money having clothes that serve a dual role.

So I partnered up with one of my favorite boutiques again Tiger Lily to help showcase athliesure wear!

Fantastic Philanthropy: It’s all about the YMCA

I think it is about time to outline another Fantastic Philanthropy! The YMCA has grown close to my heart over the last year.  My husband sits on the local board for one of the branches and I started working out there about a year ago.  We are involved specifically with the Westside and Benbrook YMCA’s.

The YMCA gives scholarships and youth program opportunities. Persons who wish to utilize the services of the Y, but cannot afford them, are given assistance based on their needs. This allows the YMCA to say “Yes!” to those who otherwise would not be able to participate. The YMCA offers a complete continuum of services for all ages.

Here is a great video of Cheryl who has benefitted from a YMCA scholarship:

Beyond the great things they do for the community the staff is great! I am greeted by my name everyday and asked how I am.  The group fitness instructors recognize you and also are very friendly and knowledgeable sources.

I think that goes to show how great the YMCA is not only for individuals but for the community.  Whether you are there to get fit, have children that play sports or are looking for a great philanthropy the YMCA serves all of those and much, much more!

Below are just a few pictures from my YMCA adventures:IMG_3296

Powerbeats2 Review

Well hello everyone! I have several blog post on the horizon but I have been trying some new items out since Christmas and I wanted to give you my insight.  Most of the time I research things before I purchase but when my brother asked what I wanted for Christmas I said I wanted wireless earbuds for working out.

Mainly I wanted them because my klutzy self has swatted at my headphone cords and had my phone go flying a few times. It is so embarrassing and you hold your breath to make sure you didn’t mess your phone up!

So my brother ended up getting me Powerbeats2.  I have used them several times during different activities and have LOVED them.  I thought the around the ear clip would bother me but I don’t even notice it!  They stay powered up for a good amount of time.  It was SUPER easy to pair with my iPhone.  They also include ear-tips for a variety of ear shapes which is great because I HATE those big earbuds in my ear…. OUCH!

Overall, if you are someone who listens to a lot of music which being active these are TOTALLY for you.  They come in several colors too!

What are you favorite fitness accessories?
