Rug Revamp

A few weeks ago I polled on my instastories [See video of rugs below] about the runners in my kitchen. You see we have a pretty large kitchen and the space between the island and the range is oddly large. We had two runners and every time I saw the space I just couldn’t kick the feeling that it needed on rug over two.

After measuring the space I realized we needed a rug that was just under 5’x7′ to fill the space. I also knew that with children, pets & oh yeah it is our cooking space… that it needed to be super durable and easy to clean.

Hit the jackpot with this rug

One of my favorite rugs in our whole house is in Annabelle’s nursery and I remembered that I was so excited that it was washable. Lorena Canals rugs are seriously a game changer for mom’s and families with pets! So I went and checked out their website and found this beautiful rug and GUESS WHAT?! It was the perfect size that I needed, so I knew it was meant to be!

I was so excited to work with this company again and I LOVE how the rug looks in our kitchen. I know right now the trends tend to be neutrals but I love a little color and this blue pulls in the colors from our other rooms (we have an open concept kitchen, breakfast nook and living room.

Final Thoughts

What do you all think about how the bigger rug looks versus the two small runners?

Lorena Canals seriously has amazing pieces (not just rugs). Make sure you check out all of the amazing decor pieces you could add to your house! Thank you to them for working with me again! I can’t say enough about how great their products are!

Do you own any washable rugs?

Baby Sprinkle

Baby fever is REAL people! Especially when you get to sprinkle one of your good friends. I am so excited for her little bundle of joy.  The gender is a surprise this go around and the anticipation is KILLING me!

Anyways… over the weekend my girlfriend Taylor [check out her AMAZING interior design company Southern Reflections] and I hosted a baby sprinkle for Sarah.

The MAJOR gift that everyone contributed to was the glider [linked here] and it is AMAZING!!! It reclines and swivels and rocks…. the trifecta of gliders! We also got big brother a shirt and mama a monogrammed robe!

Now I need to admit I did about 5% of the work on this but I felt the need to brag on my super magnificent talented friend Taylor, who has such an eye for party planning and design!

I got the Mom-osa bar chalkboard sign idea on Pinterest and I think it turned out SUPER cute!

I also made the party favors.  I got little jars off amazon and found downloadable tags on Pinterest. On the back I printed a label that said “Thank you for SPRINKLING Baby *****. Sprinkle this epsom salt in your bath & enjoy!”

Finally, we decided as an activity to make a mobil for the baby’s room.  This picture does not do it justice! It was fun to craft and chat as a group.

I have another confession to make…. I am addicted to candles.  We have a large candle in every room in our house and burn them frequently.  One of my FAVORITE scents is Leaves. It smells so crisp and sweet.  I love waiting for the “2 for $22” sale for 3 wick candles at Bath and Body works. PS it is happening RIGHT NOW! PS white barn candles are included!

#100daysofhappiness: Day 48

I have a confession to make…. I am addicted to decretive jars.  Several months ago we moved and most rooms are fully decorated (we basically doubled in size so we had A LOT of room to fill!  Two of our bathrooms were missing something though…. Thus, a trip to home goods happened.  Below is the before… Stay tuned for a post with the results!

I LOVE home decor…. I am always drawn to buy new items.  I really love apothecary jars.  I have 6 in my kitchen.  Some serve a purpose (holding flour and sugar).  Some are just for decor.  Here is my favorite grouping/use for my jar.

WINE CORK HOLDER! I plan on saving them and using them in another project but it is so fun having friends over and adding to the jar.  It is like a jar full of fun memories!

I feel the best place I have found these at is HomeGoods… They usually have a great variety or sizes/shapes and sometimes even colors!  Both below are from there AND found a great Yankee Candle on sale there too!

“You can’t deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.” Stephen King

We recently moved into a new house and have been working to fill this new house.  I have enjoyed seeing our decor move and change from our old house to the new.  One of my favorite areas that I have done is this little space that has a pop of turquoise.

This tranquil area is great for reading, blogging, relaxing or to kick back and watch the 70″ BIG screen that we have…. See you can mix his a hers in one room!

One of my favorite decor tips is to take book slipcovers off old books around the house and use them to help create height and depth when decorating.

Also, don’t be afraid to shop around at sales and see what will work and return things that don’t work!
