Monogram is a must

Hi y’all! It has been a minute since I have posted.  I have been over on Instagram completing the #MarchStyleMadness style challenge!  It has been lots of fun and stay tuned for a recap post about that.

Anyhow back to the blog topic.  My best friend Paula, graduated from Nursing School a few weeks ago.  I had been wanting to get her a gift but wasn’t 100% sure what to do.  Then, one of my friends posted some pictures of monogrammed name badge buttons and I was sold.  She sells them on her Etsy site.  Right now the site is on hiatus because she is GETTING MARRIED!!  You can also check out her BRAND NEW home renovation blog Becoming the Beatys.

The name badges are so cute and add such personality especially for those who have to wear scrubs and can’t show their personally much through their clothing.  Here are the badges I had made:

So darling. Probably one of my favorite gifts I have purchased in a long time! What are your favorite shop local places to find gifts?

#100daysofhappiness: Days 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, & 90

It is that time again to update the good ole #100days of happiness!  After this adventure ends I will pick back up on more unique posts!

Over the weekend my oldest friend came to town for a visit! I have known Kate for over 21 years… sheeeeeeesh!  You should follow her blog Prairie Yuppie! She owns a ridiculously cute boutique in Stillwater, OK and competes in beauty pageants!  While she was here we ventured around Fort Worth, and  went to the Colonial! The quote below is our friendship… we could sit for hours and not say anything and be comfortable…. BUT lord knows we can chats each others heads off too!

True Friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable- David Tyson Gentry

Colonial was so fun! We had access to a few tents and the weather was perfect! We got to spend time with old friends and new friends and it was FABULOUS!

Belli [Facewash]-  No, I am not pregnant but I have been having TERRIBLE breakouts but I don’t want to start medicine or anything ridiculously harsh on my skin.  SO I have been searching for things that will help my face.  I LOVE the philosophy clear line but wanted to try something new.  I found rave reviews for this from NON pregnant people so I thought I would give it a whirl! And I LOVE it.  Doesn’t smell and really gives you the fresh and clean feel! It really has reduced my break outs… right now I only have one pimple…. a month ago i had so many I couldn’t even count them all!

Cherry Coke Zero is a serious problem I have.  I love it and it really does help curb my coke cravings especially in the summer when I crave it even more! Cue Rascal Flatts singing Mayberry.  I don’t drink it everyday but I like having it around when I am have a sweet craving!  SO YUMMY!

Kate and I decided to treat Mark to homemade breakfast after he put up with us hung out with us all weekend.  Omelets and bacon… can’t.beat.that.

Also, I have gotten to take advantage of working from home and some amazing weather by laying out with my laptop in hand!  I LOVE it! Stay tuned for a blog post about the highs and lows of working from home!  Should be funny…. at least for me.

Hope y’all had a fabulous weekend!

Pinterest Challenge: SINK OR SWIM… in the bathtub

“I am sure there are things that can’t be cured by a good bath but I can’t think of one.” – Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a bathoholic.

I could take a hot bath everyday even during those long hot Texas summers. I love taking time to relax and just having some time to myself.  Sometimes my date to my bath is a glass of wine, other times it is my iPad and some Netflix.

I had looked all around Pinterest one day to find a good detox bath.  Of course I wanted to take one that night so I needed to find ingredients that I already had… my lazy butt need not to make a run to the store!

I came across this Pin —-> HERE

Which lead to me this blog:  sunshinesouthern.wordpress.com

So off I went to hunt down my ingredients:

Baking Soda: CHECK

Epsom Salt: CHECK

Green Tea Bags: CHECK

I took the detox bath and really did enjoy it! Side note: the green tea makes the bath water look like you peed ALOT in it but OH WELL!

I didn’t feel dizzy in the bath but when I got up and was drying off WHOA hello headache.  BUT it went away quickly.  I really like how the detox made my skin feel and it was UBER relaxing so I feel like I will do it again.  I may continue to adventure and try new ones but I would say this Pinterest Challenge was a success!

What detox baths do you like best?

Blogspiration

My first several post have come to me very easily and truthfully without much effort.  I knew soon enough I would have to start creatively thinking and I was excited to let that creative energy in! That is one of the reason I wanted to start a blog!  Well, today I was thinking I need some inspiration on this gloomy Monday!

Then the thought struck…. what if I write about things that inspire me.  Some things that inspire some are serious and some are things that just help me get in the right “mind set.” So here it goes in no particular order!

Yoga/running- Sometimes I am inspired by the motivation it takes for me just to get up and do it but I feel so amazing once I am done.  Such an accomplishment and both activities allow me to clear my head!

run

Oreos- Sometimes you just need some good ol’ junk food. End of story.  Of course their super bowl reaction 2 years ago was priceless [see below.] AND NOW THEY HAVE NEW FLAVORS! I really want to try the cookie dough flavor!

The Beach- The sound, the smell, the feel of the sand…. so many of my senses are evoked and I am so calmed when I am there…. Wish I lived closer but when I get to go it is something I cherish!

Reading-  Most night no matter whether it is a serious book or a trashy romance novel, I come across so many quotes that make me stop and think! I think it is one of the reasons I LOVE reading… I get lost in the stories but they also give me a time to reelect.

read

Netflix binging-  This is similar to reading I am able to get lost and a story but usually something sparks my creative side and I am inspired. I love watching tv shows and movies.  UM AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR HOUSE OF CARDS!

Pinterest-  Love being able to just search for what I am looking for at the time.  Currently, LOVING converse sneakers and wanted some outfit inspiration…. Look for an OOTD post soon with this inspiration:

My friends/family- I love just chatting and catching up with them or relaxing.  One of my FAV blogger friends is Ms.  Casey Walker.  Girls is a technology GENIUS.  She inspires me and teaches me new things most days of the week! Shout out to her listening to all my crazy blog ideas!  VISIT her blog at: Life’s a #Hashtag or her professional blog Casey Lee Walker

Quotes- Sometimes I just love to look up great quotes.  This is especially great is I am having a bad day and need some uplifting thoughts.  These are two of my favorites:

“Change your thoughts and you change your world. ” Norman Vincent Peale

“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That’s the only thing you should be trying to control.”  – Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

What are your inspirations?
