Book Club Favorites

IMG_4614

When moms /friends find out I am apart of a book club they always are asking me what books I am currently loving.

I am an avid reader and read anywhere from 2-5 books a month.  It is one way I do “self care”.

Below are the books we have read in our little club most recently. The club is a great way to enjoy some kid free time but with people who are in the trenches with you! I would definitely recommend starting one and if you have questions about how mine works let me know!

A Man Called Ove

Lies She Told

If I Stay and I ended up loving this book so much I read the sequel Where She Went

We Were Liars

The Rules of Magic

What are some of your favorite books you have read recently?

Empties- 2.0

I am back at it with this month’s update on my empties! And what do you know… EVERYTHING can be found at my favorite store Target!

Up & Up Diapers– LOVE these diapers.  I would say that at night I do like to go up a size though for extra protection!

Aveeno Clear Completion: Sometimes about foamy soap makes me happy.  This cleanser is gentle on skin but works! I love how it leaves my skin feeling soft and clean.  Definitely recommend.

Nature Made D3: These are vitamin D pills.  After having Tripp during my yearly lab work I was found to have a vitamin D deficiency [thanks sun-screen] so because of that I started taking these.  I have noticed that my energy and mood have improved and there is LOTS of research to show support in taking vitamin D because of the health benefits! Recommend these vitamin D pills.  Of course talk to your doctor before taking any medication!

Bio-Oil: I used this after pregnancy because after I had Tripp all of a sudden I had stretch marks. This has really helped keep my skin moisturized and the stretch marks are mostly gone and what are left are really faded.  Definitely recommend.

Crest Prohealth Advanced Toothpaste: I felt this toothpaste cleaned well.  It was not my favorite taste and the cap WOULD NOT STAY SHUT.  It drove me bananas. I would recommend a twist top Crest instead.

What products are you loving right now?

Fixing those “bra-blems”

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE clothes.  I think it is so fun to be able to express individual personality through what we wear.  However, most of us think a lot about what people see outwardly and not what is underneath.

Undergarments are SO important for the fit of clothes.  More importantly bras can change the way the top half of your outfit looks.  Being a larger chested lady that is fairly petite it can be a real struggle to find a good fitting bra.   Every body type is different and it is hard to know what bra works best for your body. UHMMM and can we just say pregnancy has not helped with this situation!?!!!

I know most of you can relate to how frustrating “bra-blems” can be. And I think all of us women can agree that these issues can make you want to rip off your bra the moment you walk in the door at the end of a long day!

With the help of ThirdLove we can solve most ladies “bra-blems”! Their “Fit Finder” is wonderful and really specializes with your body type AND the types of bras you like, so you can find the best bra for YOU!  CLICK HERE to view all of the bras they carry!

ThirdLove has also given me this great “quick fix” guide that can help improve bras that you already own! I truly believe that a good foundation builds a great outfit and you have to start with a good fitting bra! A good fitting bra can help with back issues, confidence, shoulder and neck pain and just overall daily comfort; so treat yourself to something that will make your everyday life a little bit better!

Banana Cinnamon Muffins

I got bit by the baking bug and had 2 very ripe bananas so…. I found THIS recipe on BettyCrocker.com and wanted to add some Hershey’s Kisses [I used the caramel filled}.  Made some tweaks and they turned out great!

Image

Ingredients

2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
2/3 cup mashed very ripe bananas (2 small)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 2/3 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
24 Hershey Kisses

Topping

1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Grease bottoms only of 12 regular-size muffin cups with shortening or spray, or line with paper baking cups. [I split to 24 for smaller muffins and to incorporate the hershey’s kisses.]
  • 2 In medium bowl, beat 2/3 cup sugar, the oil and eggs with wire whisk. Stir in bananas and vanilla. Stir in remaining muffin ingredients just until moistened. Divide batter evenly among muffin cups.
  • 3 Push Hershey Kisses into batter about halfway down.
  • Bake 17 to 21 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately remove from pan to cooling rack.
  • In small bowl, mix 1/4 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Dip muffin tops into melted butter, then into cinnamon-sugar. Serve warm.

OOTD: Tailgate Edition

IMG_3042

Pregnancy style has been a little hit or miss for me lately.  I am at a really awkward point where I don’t really look pregnant…. just like I drank a few too many Coors Light. I’ve just been wearing some pieces that tend to be a little big on me and thats what seems to work right now.

This tailgate outfit had LOTS of layers because it felt like negative 10 degrees outside (at least to me it did).  I had been eyeing this vest for years but HATED the vinyl print one that was popular at a certain outlet store.  I found this one that is real stitching and got it monogramed for cheaper than what the outlet carries it for.

From work to work out

Athliesure wear is a fun trend right now in fashion and I am ALL about it.  With how busy our lives are I love that there are options of fashion that can take you from the office to the gym and you look good at both places! Plus, it saves time and money having clothes that serve a dual role.

So I partnered up with one of my favorite boutiques again Tiger Lily to help showcase athliesure wear!

Blazer Series: Part 2

Since I started this series I decided I should publish a little “How to” for blazers.  They are so versatile but sometimes that can be really overwhelming when creating an outfit.  So here ya go!

picstitch

Step One: Blazing it up. Find a great structured blazer.  If you don’t have one already I would recommend black or navy as they are very neutral and can go with many blouse options.

Step Two: Top of your game. A soft blouse/ t-shirt or sleeveless shirt to go under the blazer. For a more casual occasion I go with a plain t-shirt and for a dressier occasion a blouse. Feel free to spice it up with a pattern or a bright color! Just remember your shoes and accessories will need to compliment one another.

Step Three: A mean jean. A well fitting pair of jeans.  Remember jeans can be colored or regular.  Whatever you feel most comfortable in or whatever color is suiting your mood! I prefer a dark wash denim with my black blazer. It gives it that dressed up crisp look. But when I am going more casual a light wash jean is my “go-to”.

Step Four: Pump it up.  A nice pump really helps balance the jean and blazer look.  Gives you classy and edgy look. Go for a fun color (magenta) or pattern (leopard)!

Step Five: Bling, Bling.  A statement necklace is the icing on this outfit.  If you haven’t gone bold with your shoes, or top here is where you can make your impact.

Step Six: Show em’ what you got.  Have fun in your new outfit!

Life Goals

You know some life goals are big and some life goals are small. Well my name is Lauren and I have a lip balm problem. My goal… completely finish one of my lip balms before buying a new one.

Here’s to hoping this holds me accountable.
