Tripp visits Disneyworld

Thanks to Disney World for gifting me a day of tickets to venture around the park.

If you would have asked me about taking a two year old to Disney a year ago I wold have laughed at you.  But I can tell you Tripp (and all of us) had a blast.  In an upcoming post(s) I will talk about traveling with a toddler tips and what its like to travel while pregnant!

We stayed at The Grand Floridian and it was AMAZING.  Their property is top notch with lots of activities for kids and good choices of places to eat.

Tripp loved the “beach” area they had! It was near a pool and a splash area too which he LOVED.  This was such a fun little perk of staying at this park. We also had awesome views of the fireworks from Disney!

Tripp absolutely loved riding the rides and see all the sites. I was worried he wouldn’t be super into the rides but he laughed looked around and never cried! The only time we had to really work with him was if we had wait times in line… which wasn’t ever a long period because we used fast passes and timed when to go to other rides based on what the Disney App told us… SO HELPFUL!

**Please ignore my cheesy mom voice.

Of course this pregnancy lady NEEDED a dole whip.  It was AMAZING and you can actually order ahead through the app and miss the line.  This is SO helpful during “heavy” food traffic time.

Disney makes everything so easy with their app.  We signed up for fast passes (which by the way made meeting characters SO much easier) and all the ride photos/attraction photos go right there in your app! I also loved the map and locator feature so we could see how to get places the fastest and where we were.

Thanks again to Disney for an amazing time! We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Whats your favorite thing to do at Disney?

Pathway Pack Diaper Bag

Please note this post may contain affiliate links.

Y’all know I love a good diaper bag backpack and as a working mom I always want one with dual functions.  One of the features I have been looking for is a bag that has a separate laptop pocket.  I am always on the go with my laptop since I “work from home”.  This diaper bag is the perfect combo because it has the perfect amount of space for my work and personal items with plenty of room to spare for items for my toddler (and soon to be newborn baby). Thanks to Petunia Pickle Bottom for gifting me this awesome Pathway Pack.

Another bonus of this bag is that it is coated canvas.  I love the canvas look but it isn’t duper durable however, this coating is stain resistant and helps keep the fabric from snagging. This bag also has several color options to fit every personality. I really loved this classic black and white because I felt it would go so well with my wardrobe.

Some of the other features I am loving are the roomy interior with 2 open pockets and 1 snap-close laptop pocket and the exterior pockets, detachable cross body strap… give me ALL the pockets so we can stay organized!

Here are some of the other wonderful features that Petunia Pickle Bottom highlights:

  • 2 side exterior bottle pockets
  • 2 open front pockets, 1 zippered front pocket
  • The canvas pack’s front flap secures with a snap closure
  • Zippered mesh pocket under flap
  • Removable, water-resistant and washable baby changing pad
  • PPB-monogrammed wipes case
  • Genuine leather trim, stamped logo, premium antique copper-colored metal hardware
  • This coated cotton canvas diaper bag has woven backpack straps, grab handle and detachable cross-body strap

I seriously have gotten compliments every time I have used this bag so far! It makes a great pool bag too since it can keep you organized but keeps things dry!

Seriously, this diaper bag is the working moms dream because you can easily separate all of your kids items from your personal work items with plenty of extra space.  The pocket system keeps you organized and makes for easy transfer if you need to just grab your items out so you can drop the kiddo off! This diaper bag can work so perfectly for both the working mom and the SAHM!

First must haves for baby #2

* Please note this post may contain affiliate links and I received these products compliments of Dockatot, Binxy Baby, Ollie Swaddle and Lorena Canal.

Before I was even pregnant there were a few items that I knew were on my “must have” list for baby #2.  Most of these products I heard about when Tripp was a baby and over these couple of years have just heard more and more moms rave about.  So I wanted to make sure I had them for baby #2!

DockAtot + Toy arch- Link will get you $10 off all DockAtot’s!

I am so excited to try this out.  I have heard such rave reviews on how well babies will sleep in the dockatot.  I love how portable it is and with a toddler on the go I will need something that is easy to move around to keep the baby close while I keep up with Tripp. I also love the toy arch attachment so it can be a play area for baby! Can we also take a moment to SWOON over the Aristot line?! Pretty sure their bassinets are on the top of my wishlist now!  The DockATot feels so comfy but sturdy all at the same time. I love the different designs that you can choose from [I got the “Bananas for you” print] and I look forward to helping baby get some good quality sleep! Here are some of the wonderful features of this product.

– DockATot is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and playtime lounger.
– Two sizes (Deluxe for 0-8 Months, Grand 9-36 months)
– Made in Europe, designed in Sweden.
– Tested for breathability
– OEKO-TEX certified
– All natural, 100% cotton
– Handmade in Europe
– Ideal micro-climate for babies and tots
– Grand is perfect for toddler bed transitions

Binxy Baby– Get 10% off with this link!

Next on my list that I have seen several times during my grocery store visits is a Binxy Baby cart hammock! This gives you room in the grocery cart, a safe place for baby AND you don’t have to lug the carseat in.  I always felt so bad piling groceries in the cart around the carseat. The hammock looks nice and cozy for baby and I think won’t be as hot to ride around in the store.  Tripp always got so hot not having air blow on him in that infant carseat and this gives so much more ventilation. I also love how collapsable it is so it is super portable to carry in.  These are all perfect solutions for us! See below for some of my favorite features.

– Fits most standard grocery store carts
– Holds car seat and supports up to 50 pounds in weight
– Used for babies approx. 6-8 months until they sit up on their own
– Safety tested

Ollie Swaddle– Get 10% off with this link!

We never found a swaddle that worked for my first little guy but I know how much it can help with sleep.  I love the look and feel of the ollie swaddle and I have heard amazing reviews from friends. Also, I LOVE the face you can access the diaper easily because at night you want as little distraction and buttons as possible… amiright?! I think that sleep is so important for mom and baby and this swaddle feels like heaven.  Take time to read the story on how the Ollie Swaddle came to life because of a social worker/foster parent because it will let you see the research and real life experiences that led to such a wonderful product. I chose the meadow color because I think it is calming and goes for both a boy and a girl! Here are some of my favorite features.

– Known as the the Smarter Swaddle™
– Made from custom moisture-wicking material to reduce the risk of overheating
– Custom fit to allow for fit to be individualized to meet the needs and size of each little one
– Easy access diaper changes accessible through opening at the bottom
– One-size promotes ease with transitional stages

Lorena Canal Rugs

OK They seriously have the CUTEST rugs that I have been eyeing for awhile.  We don’t know the gender but I have a cactus from my mom and I knew when I saw their cactus rug I needed it and our nursery theme was born!  I have put photos of some of my other favorites but it was hard to choose! Best of all you can easily throw these rugs into the wash… and with babies come messes so that is totally perfect for us.  I also love how the look of each rug can grow through different ages and can even be used in “adult” spaces! Here are some of my other favorite features.

– Rugs and cushions are all machine-washable and fit into a standard washer and dyer
– Home collection is for adult spaces and sophisticated kids rooms
– Loved by top celebs and picked by Vogue as top baby product for celebrity nurseries
– Made in India, designed in Spain
– All natural dyes, handmade, eco and contain no VOCs like most carpeting and rugs
– Proceeds support the Sakula project, and provide schooling for children in India.

I am so excited to try these new toys/tools out with the new baby! SO many handy items that I didn’t get to try with Tripp.  It is fun what new trends come out even just after two years!

What is on your must have baby list?

Good Enough

Good enough.  This is something that I have struggled with since I was a little girl.  I wanted to make sure I was a good daughter, sister, friend.  I always wanted that reassurance that I was doing a good job.

IMG_4223 2

I think when you are a perfectionist it is really hard to feel like you are doing a good job in roles that don’t have black and white grades/achievements.  I think that is why it is so hard for us to not sit and compare ourselves.  You see how “great” others are doing but have to remind your self that is just a snippet of the whole picture. This perfectionism has carried into my marriage, motherhood and I even still struggle wondering if I am a good daughter, sister and friend.

I always want to make sure I am a good listener, providing the right affirmations to what my friends and family crave. I struggle balancing being a good listener but also giving out advice and not taking over conversation.

All of these struggles seem to be on steroids now that I am blogger/influencer and have the “perfect lifestyle” pictures going around on my feeds day after day. Honestly,  it can really eat at my spirit and passion.  I question myself daily if I am a “good enough” blogger. I have to take a step back and remember that I am doing this influencer thing to bring myself and others joy and if that isn’t happening I need to reevaluate.  I want to make sure I am painting a true picture of my life in both it’s perfections and imperfections.  I don’t want to be the sugar coated blogger.  I want to be real and raw but still show how proud I am of the life I get to live.

With that being said; March is a new month, spring is upon us and I want to take this time to stop and realize my perfect imperfections. Realize that I won’t do it the right way every time but know that I am trying my best and that is what is good enough for my family, friends and myself.

We have to remember those snapshots we see into other peoples lives are just that, snapshots.  The bigger picture is that you define your perfect.  I was reading something the other day that said something along the lines of “Stop wishing for the future (like having more kids, potty trained kids, or the perfect house). Start living in the present.”  You can’t live your life dreaming constantly about the future because you will miss out on those sweet moments in everyday life.

I am reminding myself of the challenge of #yayineveryday and I hope you can join me in remembering the perfections and achievements in your day are what we should charish and don’t harp on the areas you didn’t feel were “perfect”.

Tripp’s Favorite Things + 20 Month Update

As I sit down to write this post I just can’t get over that Tripp is almost 20 months old.  He is a talking machine, a runner and full of life.  He eats ALL the food, ALL the time and he is getting cuter by the day which I don’t even know how that is possible.

Just Don’t.

I really don’t know where to being this post… I don’t even know how I feel about posting it.  I began writing it over the weekend when news broke that my best friend’s brother in law was killed in a car accident by a suspected drunk driver.  An innocent 19 year old kid was taken from his family a week before Christmas…at the hands of someone who could have called an uber, a friend or a cab.

I am sad. I am angry. I am heart broken.

A few months into marriage and my best friend and her husband are dealing with the unthinkable; all because someone got behind the wheel who shouldn’t have. I don’t know what to do or say that will help them…I know that not much can be done to take away the anguish they are experiencing.

What I do know I can do is ask you to PLEASE make arrangements for your holiday festivities.  HAVE FUN but be safe.  Make plans AHEAD of drinking, because we know that when you have been under the influence you don’t always make the best decisions.  Simply call an uber, ride home with a friend who you KNOW has been responsible or call a taxi.

just don't do it

I know this message is expressed time and again but please, just stop and think about what your actions may cause.  The holidays should be a time of joy and celebration so please let it be just that and plan ahead for the safety of you and the safety of others.

18 Month Update

I realize now I never posted Tripp’s One Year update #momlife! Here we are at a year and a half and just when I think Tripp won’t blow my mind again he says a new word or has a new skill.

Tripp loves talking, dancing, and running everywhere! He is such a ham and loves making people laugh!

He loved halloween and was the life of the party! Check out him dancing in the lion costume below.

Discipline is hitting hard right now and I am doing my best to be consistent and understanding all at the same time. Time outs are a thing these days and Tripp is NOT a fan… as seen below.

IMG_2747

Tantrums aside, I’m loving this phase SO much! He is learning and growing by leaps and bounds.  One of my favorite things to hear him say it “Tank Ew” for thank you… Talk about melting my heart. He is SO social and loves waving and talking to EVERYONE.

IMG_2741

I could go on and on but I’ll stop while I am ahead! But I would love to hear your tips and tricks for discipline?

Mom Hack

I was scrolling though Instagram the other day and came across a GENIUS mom hack that I wanted to share with you guys… all thanks to @aandar2014. I always feel like as moms we need to share the wealth of knowledge.

IMG_2316

I ventured to Dollar Tree and found these fruit infuser cups.  Even though the holes on the juice box punch area are smaller than the straw it came with it was easy to punch it through with the straw that came with the cup.  The straws have the thick ring that prevent it from being pulled out… #toddlerproof.  Check out the cup in action below.

This is so perfect for my non milk drinking kid.  So many places have juice boxes but they are a PAIN to deal with since he will squeeze them all over the place.

Seriously, thanks to AAndar2014 for the awesome tip!

How to Mom Date

*Please note this blog post may contain affiliate links!

Can we just all agree that as an adult it is SO hard to meet friends.  Once you become a mom you have an even bigger layer of self consciousness about “mom shaming” to deal with which adds to the difficulty of making friends!

how to make mom friends

Well after 16 months I can say how truly important it is to find mom friends that have kids close to your children’s ages.  You go through the ups and downs together and can lean on one another for advice. This is really important to me since my mom isn’t here to give me advice.

But how do you meet the mom friends?  Here are some tips that I have picked up since I have had Tripp!

Places to meet mom friends:

  1. Local mom groups [Facebook, Fit4mom, MOPS]
  2. Library
  3. Parks
  4. Local Play Areas [indoor playgrounds, bounce houses, gyms]
  5. Museums

Okay so you made it to some great places to meet moms but how do you talk to them?

  1. Say hello!
  2. Give a compliment! [Like I love your shoes or earrings] Be sincere!
  3. If conversation gets to flowing ask her name!
  4. Put yourself out there, say hey we should grab coffee, wine or meet up at a park sometime!
  5. Exchange numbers [and then send a text to plan a mom date]

Don’t be afraid of rejection. It happens and you wouldn’t want to be friends with someone like that anyway! The majority of moms are looking to meet other mom friends to socialize with.  Just keep trying and you will find that perfect mom group!
