I am excited to be able to show case a great way to give back to our community. If you have been here awhile you know I love showcasing great philanthropies within our community. Over the past few months I have fallen in love with a new local organization. In working with Toyota we were gifted $200 to donate products to a women owned business or non profit in the area that supports both. For this project I chose Funky Town Fridge.

What is Funky Town Fridge?
Funky Town Fridge is a community fridge project that aims to combat hunger, empower our communities, reduce food waste, and educate the city of Fort Worth. We place refrigerators and pantries in public spaces accessible to the community 24 hours a day and stock them with nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste. In the spirit of mutual aid, all members of the community are invited to contribute food to the fridges and take what they need.
I loved getting to go shop for fresh fruit, veggies and nourishing food. There is always a high demand for fresh food for a healthy meal. I love what Funky Town Fridge has done for our community. They are proactive and have been able to make sure people in need are able to have quality food.
Toyota was kind enough to provide a great vehicle to haul all of our foodie finds! Funky Town Fridge has several locations and we chose Southside. The Highlander features so much room not only for hauling kids! I loved the sporty feel. It didn’t feel like driving a HUGE SUV which was nice! I loved the interior detailing and the safety features are top notch.
Have you been able to donate to Funky Town Fridge or a local fridge in your area?
