I was looking at different crafts on pinterest I wanted to find something creative but had some steps my that my toddler could help complete. I feel like allowing children in the kitchen allows them to get excited for food and also gets them curious to try new things. While it may take extra time it is so worth the reward. I knew I found a winner when I found this pumpkin rice crispy treat idea! *please note this post may contain affiliate links.

The best part of this project was watching Tripp. He loves to help cook and bake and the best part is how proud he is when the meal is done. He wants to make sure it taste good and he knows how important food should be to fuel our bodies.
I will say rice crispy treats aren’t the healthiest thing to make but these were so cute that I couldn’t resist…. plus everyone deserves a sweet treat every once in while…. right?

Here is how we made these fun Halloween treats.
What you need:
6 cups of rice crispy cereal
Red & yellow food dye (I used gel)
Rolo’s
Cooking Spray
3 tbsp of butter
10oz bag of marshmallows
small box of m & m’s
How to make pumpkin rice crispy:
Melt the butter on low. Once it is melted pour in the entire bag of marshmallows and stir slowly until completely melted. The add red and yellow food coloring. I did about 3 parts red to 1 to 2 parts yellow. I mixed until I got a very pumpkin orange color.
The pour 6 cups or rice crispy and mix until evenly covered. I then sprayed a cooking sheet and spread the mix out a little bit to help cool it. Next, I sprayed my hands with cooking spray and started forming balls with the rice crispy. I sprayed my hands in between each ball.
To top the pumpkins off I pushed a Rolo upsidedown in the top middle and then put a green m & m on the side. Our little pumpkins were super simple to make and we can’t wait to give them out to our friends!
What fall treats do you love to make?
