OKC Weekend:BFF Wedding Planning

This weekend I was lucky enough to head to Oklahoma for “wedding planning weekend” with my best friend.  We had a full schedule of dress shopping and bridal show walking on to do! So keep everyone prepared for shopping I decided it would be fun to make some “dress shopping survival kits”.

This was so easy to do [thanks AMAZON] and was much appreciated by everyone in attendance.

I only put alcohol in the brides bag but if you had a “wilder” crowd some mini champagne would be perfect to add to this.

Chalkboard signs

Crackers

Gum

Kleenex

Clappers

Gift Bags

Ring pops

Water

Also, the image on the bag is from google search here is the link. I just printed it on card stock, cut them out and hot glued them on the bag!

While in OKC my bestie always takes me for some good eats and drinks! Here are just a few of the places we ventured this weekend.  I would recommend them ALL!

Oak & Ore

Empire Slice

The Sidecar

Kitchen 324

Pho Lein Hoa

Such a good weekend and my first time away from baby Tripp [BIG shout out to Daddy and Grandparents for watching him]! I hate that the BFF is a state away but we make the best of our time together and I am SO excited for this new chapter in her life.

As MOH what other special things should I do for the bride to be?

Fantastic Philanthropy: Speedway Children’s Charities

Hey y’all! It has been awhile since I spotlighted a charity that I love.  This specific charity holds a spot near and dear to my heart.  I worked for them several years ago and I can tell you the people (volunteers and employees) are some of the most fantastic people you will EVER meet.

If you remember, one of my new years resolutions is to volunteer more and I am excited to say that I am going to help spearhead a Young Professionals group for the local Texas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.

Why do I love SCC? Here is a little about the organization straight from their website.

The mission of Speedway Children’s Charities remains true to the ideals it was founded upon in 1982: To care for children in educational, financial, social and medical need in order to help them lead productive lives.

Since 1997, Speedway Children’s Charities at Texas Motor Speedway has distributed more than $10.2  million in funding to non-profit organizations in North Texas supporting children in need. The funds distributed by Speedway Children’s Charities are raised through special events held throughout the year. Most of Speedway Children’s Charities events are geared around the three major race weeks at Texas Motor Speedway.

Speedway Children’s Charities could fill the grandstands at Texas Motor Speedway 16 times with the number of children we have helped since 1997.  Our reach is far, and the dollars we raise go to directly helping children in our community.

Children’s organizations in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties are eligible to apply for the Speedway Children’s Charities’ annual Founders and Partner Grants. Qualified applicants must directly fulfill needs of children in our area and be a registered 501(c)(3) organization.

This group has raised money that TREMENDOUSLY helps the local Texas community and specifically KIDS! I love the cause and I love the people!

Want to get involved? Check out the sign up HERE!

Just a couple fun memories below of times with SCC!

I am hoping to start posting more regularly about my favorite places so this list is NOT all inclusive and I plan to continue to add to it.

Favorite Baby Products

Hey Y’all! I wanted to write a recap post of my favorite products from Newborn through 6months.  I am hoping through the stages of Tripp’s childhood I can recap my favorite items. Some of these items we still use regularly!

Hope you can find some of these items useful!

Probiotics-We liked Gerber Soothe. Really helped with regulating Tripp’s gut system especially since I was Group B Strep positive so I had to have antibiotics during birth.

Rock N Play– This was a dream come true to help get Tripp (and ME) some sleep!

Nose Frida– So gross but can get the boogers out of the nose SO much better then the bulbs!

Magic Merlin Sleep Suit– Tripp HATED being swaddled but loves this suit to sleep in.  It kept him cool enough in the Texas heat (with just a diaper underneath) but warm enough in the winter months when we put pj’s underneath).

Swing– A great way to calm the fussy baby!

Gas drops– Tripp had LOTS of tummy issues so these were a life saver!

Adan and Anis Swaddle blankets– We didn’t swaddle but these make the easiest covers for breastfeeding and were the perfect lightweight blanket in the summer for baby!screen-shot-2017-01-11-at-11-17-31-am

Activity Mat– Great for entertaining the little one during Tummy Time!

Sit me up– Such a great toy that gave me a few minutes of free hands!
