Hi everyone! One of my goals of this year to is to incorporate more philanthropy into my blog. So I have decide to spotlight outstanding organizations! This first organization is near and dear to my heart; The Arthritis Foundation.
Arthritis has affected so many family members and friends of mine that I wanted to get involved to help find a cure. So over the last 2 years I have sat on the Jingle Bell Run Committee and the Walk to Cure Arthritis committee as part of the Arthritis Foundation of North Texas.
Did you know that Arthritis is not just a disease of old age. Two-thirds of people with arthritis are under the age of 65, including 300,000 children?! The Foundation not only holds events to help raise awareness and money to find a cure but the website and staff are full of information for those who are affected. They help give health information health information, information for families of those affected and event camps for children who have JA.
Here is a great overall description of what Arthritis Foundation does and how to get involved:
Our goal is to reduce by 20 percent the number of people suffering from arthritis-related physical activity limitations by 2030.
Drive a strategic research agenda: We mobilize public and private funding as well as societal alignment around goals and strategies that offer major benefits for people with arthritis.
Influence policies and strategies to produce better outcomes for people with arthritis: We mobilize support for public and private policies that support arthritis prevention, innovation and access to quality care.
Reduce arthritis-related disparities in health and health care: We create greater capacity to assist underserved populations that have a significant arthritis burden.
