One HILL of a time

What a whirlwind of a weekend! Bachlorette weekend has come and gone and it was a blast! Fredericksburg, Texas is a fun, and friendly little town! It was so PERFECT for a girls weekend and we had one HILL of a time! Loved the weekend saying…. Brides new last name is going to be Hill AND we were in HILL country… HOW GREAT!

We rented a house right off main called Abendlied! It was so great because when we got in Friday we all enjoyed drinks, dinner and girl time on the porch!

On Saturday we had a home cooked breakfast and then got ready for a day of wine tours!

Texas Wine Tours was who we went through and it was great! They pick you up [and you can drink on the bus]! We had three wineries to go to:

Tourre Di Pietra– First stop and didn’t know what to expect! It was very “Tuscany”.  Bonus for cat lovers is that they had cats there.  Downfall, I am allergic!  But we enjoyed sitting outside here and the cats didn’t come near me so I was good to go!

Beck Vineyards– This was such an amazing winery! Great outdoor space and VERY yummy wine! We enjoyed lunch on their GIGANTIC patio!

William and Chris– This was such a cute winery.  They had great history and stories on their wine [and wine labels].  They were very knowledgeable and fun!

After the wine tours we headed back to change for dinner!

We went to Hondo’s. It had the best atmosphere and the food and drinks were great! They had a band playing called, “Almost Patsy Cline Band“.  LOVED them!

It was such a great weekend and we had some fun and interesting stops along out drive there and back… heck we even saw the Wolds Biggest Cedar Rocking Chair!

BIRTHDAY BOY

Today is my LITTLE brother’s 25th birthday! It is so hard to believe he is that age! He has been through more than what most go through in a lifetime and I envy his courage and enthusiasm.  When I think of my brother I picture the 13 year old kid in his baseball uniform  drinking a DP.

Growing up during holidays and birthdays my Mom had us write notes to each other that were things that we liked about each other.  So to keep up tradition here are 10 things I love about my brother [in no particular order].

1. His strength.  We [he especially] had a tough few years with his accident and my mom passing away.

2. His determination.  He is pushing through and working on completing his degree.

3. His passion.  He loves baseball and continues to find ways to stay involved.  Currently he is coaching little league!

4. His enthusiasm. He is excited to try new things and keep up with old hobbies

5.  His braveness.  He takes on the world with life experience and determination.

6. His humor. We can share memories and humor of growing up and our hometown.

7. His intelligence.  This kid is so smart.  He can remember so many baseball stats it blows my mind.

8. His caring for others. He loves his family, friends and doggie.  No doubt that he would do anything for anyone he cared about at the drop of a dime.

9. His courage.  It take courage to face life after traumatic things.  He has been through two and gets up and moves forward.  Such a great person to look up to!

10. His humble self.  He doesn’t preach to others what he has been through and doesn’t want anyone to treat him any different!

These are just SOME of my favorite things I love about my brother…. I could go on for awhile though! 🙂

And here is a little #TBT jewel.

Do you have siblings?  What do you love about them?  Did your parents have you do funny things like make list for each other?

Wine Weekend

wine This weekend I am venturing to Fredericksburg, TX for a wine weekend Bachlorette party! I am SO excited for a little getaway!  However, packing is a fun challenge to take on [not].  Here are some of my tips and tricks and my fun picks for this weekend! The key is to have items that can be used multiple ways.  This gives you more options but with less bulk in your duffel!  Also, choose items that can mix easily (basic colors). First off the perfect bag: vb

Vera Bradley [Grand Travler]

Here are some of my ideal outfit combos!

outfit 1

I love Chambray tops because they can be used in so many ways! This is a comfy cool look for the car ride to over and will be perfect to wear to the casual dinner we are going to that evening!

Old Navy [Convertible Maxi Dress/Skirt]//Old Navy [Chambray Top]//Target [Cami Top]//Target [Sandal]

I wanted an outfit that could go from day to night.  This is the day for wine tours so I figured I can throw my sandals in my bag and either dress it up or dress it down! I also get cold easily so throw in the chambray shirt for a bit of warmth but not adding bulk to the bag I carry!  You might notice the repeat of the maxi skirt from above.  Thats because it is a convertible dress/skirt… BRILLIANT!

Outfit 3 is for a little fancier dinner out.  I am OBSESSED with this look! Such fun summer colors!

   Bonus find:

Target PJ

What better excuse to buy a cute PJ set! Late night chats will happen and you need to be comfy!

Patio Update

One of the selling features of our new house is a wrap around front porch! Part of it is a little sectioned off piece you can only access from the master bedroom. Well we had been given some metal chairs from Marks parents and just had them sitting out there.

We debated about painting them and then decided just to take a look at Garden Ridge [soon to be called At Home].

Well we ended up finding EVERYTHING [minus chairs and flowers] there for about $120 [with coupon]!

What was purchased:
Cushions [2]
Pillows [2]
Flower stand
Flower pot
Table
Lantern candle holder
Wall floral holder
Decor flowers

I would call this a great bargain redesign! Perfect for morning coffee and evening drinks!
